Senior Radiation Protection Specialist
(McClean Lake)

Reporting to the HSE & Regulatory Relations Manager, this position is responsible for the following duties:

Responsibilities include:
• Assisting in the planning, executing and accomplishing all activities associated with the radiation protection program
• Providing radiological data analysis of area monitoring and dosimetry results
• Assessing radiological anomalies and advising on mitigating actions
• Designing and coordinating of radiation protection based projects
• Assisting in the compiling and review of required regulatory reporting commitments
• Assessing and implementation of radiation protection database improvements
• Providing guidance to the Radiation Protection Group regarding monitoring procedures, data collection, etc.
• Responding in a timely manner to situations where it may be necessary to investigate, eliminate and/or control unacceptable radiation exposure
• Embrace and support Operational Excellence efforts and OE Culture
• Comply with all Orano health, safety and environmental policies, practices and procedures

Skills and Qualifications for the position include:
• Possess a degree in a field of science/engineering preferable
• Experience as a Health Physicist, Radiation Protection Specialist or equivalent will be given preference
• Previous experience with trending analysis and research projects
• Background in uranium mining and milling, with familiarity of radiation protection legislation
• Demonstrated competence in organizing and reporting technical data and information
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Required to work independently and respond to findings in an appropriate manner
• Strong aptitude in mathematics, physics, and database applications
• Able to work closely and co-operatively with other departments to promote a team approach

Work Location & Schedule:
• McClean Lake
• 14 day in/ 14 day out rotating schedule
• Normally an 11 hour work day, although some activity outside of normal working hours may be required

Drug (including marijuana) and alcohol substance testing is a requirement for all Safety Sensitive positions. Applicants who have recently used marijuana recreationally may not pass a substance test as marijuana can remain in the user’s system for as many as 30 days after use.
